Tanka and other short form poetry
yes like a memory of heartbreak too easy to get back in the pain, watch outLove your writing
Paul,Such sadness here. The final line is deeply felt..."a ghost of memory", such a painfully true description of how we experience loss as time goes on. The fact that this ethereal presence contrasts with "again and again", makes the tanka all the more powerful. A sense that we can't forget someone, yet we barely remember them. I find myself thinking about what keeps someone's memory alive within us and from where these subtle hauntings come, when we are going about our lives. Like your 'ghost', Paul, this tanka will linger...
It is their slipperiness that gives ghosts such power. How beautifully you express that here, Paul.
A very avocative tanka, Paul...
nice one Paul
Thanks Y'all...I'm a little flat poetically at the moment, so please forgive the gaps.
