whiskey moon

whiskey moon ---
how many tears would it take
to drown in

first light -
always
everything is new

clouded moon -
I'm not the man I was
even a moment ago

scent of lilac -
one final breath
after another

longest day -
everything I'd hoped
it wouldn't be

struggling to hear
what the wind has to say -
pink clematis

of all the shapes
the wind could be -
purple irises

the lake unfolds...
a ripple
for each breath

forget-me-nots -
learning to love again
is never easy

just outside my dream a blackbird singing...

crocus breeze -
my dying mother's words
come back to me

as if tomorrow
would never come -
snowdrops

sudden downpour -
the memory of a butterfly
washed away

a single blossom falls
and with it
the whole world
