a white gate
blown open by the wind...
I wonder
what dreams await me
on the other side

This tanka bowled me over when I first read it in "Gusts" and continues to haunt me.

I'm glad you and Claire are putting-up your Gusts poetry on your blogs. They deserve wide and far readership.

Paul,
I echo all that Brian has said.
I, too, loved this poem --actually all three affected me deeply. I read this one on many levels; literally, the white gate that opens in sleep, or the gate to that Jungian realm where the poet goes to gather flowers and feel the brush of wings...and then, onward, to that unknown place that lies in wait for us all.
I've been sharing my poetry freely, as I believe, as Robert Wilson does, that poetry should be available to those who may not be able to access the journals (I know how hard it is to subscribe to some of the journals -it's a hard decision sometimes what is and what is not affordable). Much as I love the feel of a book in my hands, I don't think we can under-estimate the power and the benefits of the internet. Starting my tanka journey on Twitter, I also feel the need to give something back in my own small way.

How precious, also, is this close community we have here, a place to share our words and our journeys?

Thank you both for all that you give me.

Claire

Thank you all for your comments. I'm a little bit slow here at the moment, though you can be assured that your presence is greatly valued.
